With the start of school, comes an array of things to cover, from books to technology, rules and responsibilities, expectations and book care, and so much more. Although we will not have library classes this first week of school, students need to know Library expectations and device care expectations as well.

TEACHER TOOLS & TIDBITS:

CHATGPT - ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot, created by OpenAI, that generates human-like responses to text-based prompts, capable of tasks like answering questions, writing creatively, coding, summarizing information, and creating images. It uses machine learning to process and analyze vast amounts of data, enabling it to understand and generate language.

DEVICE INFORMATION

Teachers, many of the students on campus have received NEW devices. Please be sure to inform them how to care for their devices, especially how to properly connect and disconnect the chargers as well as how to connect/disconnect the headphones. The Video linked in above is available for students.

FYI:

  • There are No EXTRA 1st Grade iPads. If students break their brand new 1st Grade iPad, they will get an older model for the remainder of the school year.

  • There are No EXTRA Touchscreen laptops. If a student breaks a new touchscreen, they will get an older laptop for the remainder of the school year.

  • If a student yanks the headphone cable incorrectly leaving part of the jack stuck in the device, an older device will have to replace it. We do not have the equipment to remove those parts, plus they can damage the device in the process.

  • Please No Student STICKERS allowed or any teacher labels covering the barcodes. These devices take longer to process when all those extra things have to be removed.

And lastly,

  • Please send your Student Device Responsibility forms to the library with a student once the parents have signed and returned.

Students will be informed of this in the library as well, but since they use their devices in the classroom, it helps when all staff reminds them periodically.
